Glow This Winter: Skin Care Tips for Flawless Glowing Skin

Skin Care Tips for Flawless Glowing Skin

Islamabad: December is both the best of times and the worst of times. The weather is divine, and there is no limit to the weddings and parties one has to attend. However, make-up and the harsh winter air can take their toll on one’s skin. As the temperature goes down, our skin loses moisture and natural oils and becomes rough and unmanageable. There are some mistakes that all of us might make during winter like using indoor heating a lot or exfoliating too much.

Instead of chemical-laden skin products, one can trust natural ingredients like apple cider vinegar, shea butter, chamomile, argan oil, etc. Ingredients such as chamomile and oatmeal in the cleanser will benefit your skin. Look for ones without fragrance and additives. Cold-pressed oils like jojoba oil and sandalwood are good for dry skin. Few drops of facial oil post toner will bring a new life to the dull skin.

Too Much Moisturiser:

If a moisturizer is correctly suited to your skin type, it should feel comfortable on the skin and not leave it feeling greasy or oily. A day moisturizer should always contain an SPF. Night creams should only be used at night as they tend to be richer and don’t contain any sun protection.

Over Exfoliating:

Go easy on the exfoliation. Over-exfoliating can lead to redness and irritation, and constantly stripping your skin of its natural oils can actually make skin greasy. Steer clear of exfoliating scrubs that have sharp, uneven grains, for can tear or damage your skin.

Using Anti-Ageing creams before your skin is ready:

Don’t use anti-aging skincare before your skin shows signs of aging. If you use creams with potent anti-aging ingredients before your skin needs them, they will either have no effect or a detrimental one.

The wrong face mask:

As with moisturizers, select your face mask according to your skin type. For instance, clay-based masks will cause normal-dry skin to flake. If your skin is in need of moisture, select a mask especially made for dry skin.

Forgetting SPF:

Come rain or shine; always apply SPF during the day, as the sun is the biggest cause of wrinkles. Wear a daily moisturizer that contains at least SPF 30.

Sleeping in make-up:

Sleeping with dirt, oil, and makeup on your face can cause acne and enlarged pores. Think of makeup removal as washing away the day’s grime!

Frequently changing products:

A very common mistake is changing products too often. It’s really important to try a new product for at least three months to see the true effect it has on the skin because every skincare regime takes at least 21 days to start having an effect.

Don’t use the heater much:

While it is tempting to sit as close to the heater as possible during the cold months, the hot air just sucks the moisture out of your skin and makes it drier. If you have to switch on the heater, then use a humidifier along with it or place a large bowl of water in the room.
